HUB IDEA

Ji Çaran Çar Jin Huner is dedicated to addressing gender inequality, women's consciousness, and gender awareness through the lens of cultural and artistic expression. They collaborate on artistic workshops, exhibitions, concerts, and theatre productions with a focus on women’s themes. Their activity programme centres on the number 4, covering four seasons, four art branches, and four tours. Women artists are trained in various art forms and engage in ethical-aesthetic discussions, resulting in exhibitions and tours across four cities. The activities aim to empower women artists and create a platform for discussion and artistic exploration, contributing to a more just and artistic world.

ŞanoWan is a stage theatre that was opened in 2017, where theatre actors, filmmakers and musicians, who previously worked in the metropolitan and district municipalities of Van and were dismissed from their jobs by the trustees appointed in 2016, were placed together. ŞanoWan, which regularly produces three plays every year, one for women, one for children, and one for general, and organizes workshops, organizes an international Kurdish Theatre festival every year. The stage, which had to take a break for two years due to the pandemic, was continued extensively in 2021 and turned into an alternative venue for 150 people where all kinds of culture-art and social events (concerts, plays, cinema, dance, conferences, panels, poetry recitals, etc.) are held in the city. The organization carries out its work in Kurdish.

One of its aims is to spread the culture of democracy and peace. It has initiated training workshops to improve women's struggle in all areas of life, to prevent all kinds of violence against women, to raise women's awareness, and to recognise personal rights and freedoms. Our association, founded based on women's rights and freedoms, carries out a work focused on solidarity.

Expectations from Transnational Exchange

We expect the transnational partnership to organize art workshops and artistic productions on common ground with democratic and gender-aware artists abroad. We want to transfer different techniques and perspectives, especially in the fields of painting, theater, and music. We want to encourage women artists from East and West to engage in cultural exchanges based on common feelings, to support their initiatives, and to develop strong relationships for the future. As Kurdish artists living in the Middle East, where the level of democracy and human rights is gradually declining and even universal human rights are violated, we feel even more responsible as hot wars and violence spread to all segments of society. Our priority is to produce cultural works that focus on social problems and gender awareness and to work with women artists such as directors, musicians, painters, and theater actors.
