Batman Yenisahne, located in Batman, was founded by artists from the iconic Yılmaz Güney Cinema, which was closed, burned and demolished in 2017. Established in 2018 as the "Yeni Sahne Sanat Atölyesi", it serves as a hub for theatrical productions and diverse cultural events. Despite challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic and limited regional support for the arts, the volunteer-driven organization, comprising professionals from various sectors, remains committed to promoting Kurdish culture and language. With a vision to expand Kurdish theatre's reach, Batman Yenisahne symbolizes artistic resilience and cultural dedication in the region.

Expectations from Transnational Exchange

Our primary expectation from VAHA's transnational phase is a robust knowledge exchange with global theatre organizations. This would encompass sharing theatrical techniques, methodologies, and innovative practices that can invigorate our local theatre scene. Collaborative productions blending diverse cultural narratives would offer unique performances with global resonance. We anticipate workshops led by international theatre experts, introducing our artists to global trends. Participation in international theatre festivals would amplify our reach, while joint research projects with theatre institutions would preserve our region's theatrical heritage. Additionally, we foresee collaborations with global educational systems, aiming for a theatre-based curriculum for children, teacher training programs, and student exchange initiatives. Such partnerships would not only promote cultural understanding but also enrich the learning environment with shared resources and research. In essence, we believe that organizations outside Turkey can significantly augment our hub's artistic and educational endeavors, positioning it as a cultural and educational exchange epicenter.
