Founded in 2017, mezopArt is an Istanbul-based artist initiative dedicated to intercultural dialogue and co-creation. Nomadic in nature, it organises exhibitions, performances, and participatory events in collaboration with artists from diverse geographies and disciplines. Themes such as memory, displacement, and collective identity are central to its curatorial work. Past projects include the multimedia exhibition Can Not Unsee and collaborative programs with partners like Arthere Istanbul, Salt Galata, and Impact Hub. MezopArt builds transnational connections and provides an experimental platform for socially engaged artistic expression.

Storytelling Basecamp
vahahubs.org/hubs/storytelling-basecamp
The Solidarity Basecamp hub creates an inclusive space for migrants and refugees, especially women and gender-diverse individuals, to learn storytelling as a tool for connection and dialogue. Through 6 workshops (both online and in-person) and 1-on-1 mentoring, participants will develop storytelling, communication, and performance skills, fostering a sense of belonging and solidarity. Digital tools like Canva, Miro, and Zoom will support online sessions. The workshops will culminate in a public event with performances and dialogues at BAK, involving local authorities, civil society organisations, and cultural groups. Targeting 12-15 migrant or refugee participants, the project will be coordinated by NWC, with BAK providing the venue, organising events, and managing marketing. The hub aims to enhance storytelling skills, foster collaboration, and encourage public dialogue on migration to bridge understanding between migrants and local communities.

Hür Adalar
Hür Adalar, meaning “Sovereign Isles,” is an artist residency program based in Antalya that provides a collaborative living and working environment for artists and researchers. Centered around a shared home studio, it encourages early-stage experimentation and the free exchange of ideas. Emphasising self-publishing and process-oriented work, the program supports artistic research and alternative modes of production. The concept of “sovereignty” reflects a commitment to economic autonomy and creative independence within a broader global framework. By facilitating direct, unfiltered engagement between residents and their audiences, Hür Adalar positions collective living as a form of cultural resistance and renewal.

TRANSNATIONAL EXCHANGE IDEA

Stories of Migration brings together the hub’s storytellers, migrant women+ and queer artists from Turkey. Through a one-week residency in Istanbul, they will co-create new artistic and creative forms of storytelling that connect their lived experiences of migration and displacement into powerful expressions of solidarity and resistance. The resulting creations will be showcased in exhibitions at BAK in Utrecht, Netherlands and in Turkey, sparking dialogue on visibility, representation, and collective memory.

Stories of Migration is created in collaboration with Hür Adalar and Storytelling Basecamp.
