ÇAK (Istanbul) and Kayınormanı Association (Bursa) collaborated to establish lasting connections among Samanlı Mountains community advocating for environmental rights and the rights of nature, while also building bridges between experts, scientists, artists, and the local area.
Following numerous field studies, meetings, and gatherings in the Samanlı Mountains, the hub invited a diverse group of local community members, project contributors, artists, and environmental experts to come together in the heart of the city. The aim was to foster connections between urban and rural spaces, art and science, nature and city, as well as between experts and the broader public. The gathering took place in the İstanbul studio of Çıplak Ayaklar Kumpanyası, where they shared the field visits' findings, exchanged questions, and voiced their hopes for the future of the Samanlı Mountains. They also discussed the environmental threats currently facing the region and explored the ongoing struggles to protect this delicate ecosystem.
COLLABORATION OF SARP

The Samanlı Mountains and Nature:

After the time in İstanbul, the SARP Hub travelled back to İznik to share the project’s findings directly with the local community in the town centre, nestled at the foothills of the Samanlı Mountains. This gathering took place in the historical Tile Museum of İznik, a space rich in heritage, which became a vibrant meeting point for the experts who contributed to the project, members of the Kayınormanı Association, the director of forestry, local environmental activists, and the people of İznik. The exhibition showcasing photographs taken by our team of experts offered a visual introduction to just a few of the many species that call the Samanlı Mountains home. The exhibition was more than a display; it was a call to action, urging all participants to engage with the ongoing efforts to safeguard the environment and to reflect on how their collective efforts could help ensure the sustainability of this extraordinary natural landscape.
