Caravan as a platform for public discussion and dialogue in Antakya's post-earthquake context
Hub partners joined forces in response to the earthquake that devastated Antakya, and creates a mobile art space in the form of a caravan for workshops, exhibitions, and creative gatherings accessible to everyone.
The project focused on organizing creative workshops led by local and guest artists, addressing themes such as cultural memory, collective trauma, and recovery through artistic expression.
"Evimi Kelimelerle Kuruyorum", "Duygu Arşivi", "Çocukların Tanımları", "Akışkan Bedenler", "Zeytinin Ritmi", "Antakya/lı Ne İstiyor?", "Dipten Gelen Sesler, İzler", "Yarına Dünden Notlar", "Olağanüstü Hayaller", "Biz Burada Biz! Şimdi, Şimdi, Şimdi", "Etkileşimli Bellek", "Palimsest Haritalar", "Bu Şehrin Konuşan Motifleri", "Göbek Bağıyla Bağlanmak", "Zamanın Geometrisi", "Kem Göz Tılsımı ve Görsel Düşünme". Those were the workshops that brought together participants and artists affected by the earthquake to foster healing and resilience through shared creative practices.
The outcomes of these workshops, including participants' works, performances, and artists’ creations, were presented in a public exhibition. This exhibition served as a space for reflection, dialogue, and community connection, aiming to support both individual and collective recovery. Additionally, the team created a film documenting the entire process, offering an in-depth view of the journey and its impact.
As targeted, the project offered a unique space for shared expression through art, allowing both the artists from the two affected collectives and the participants to connect deeply through shared experiences. Moments of relief have been shared together—sometimes through shared tears, and other times through joyful moments that offered a brief sense of normalcy, achieving a collective sense of healing.
